Pacific Clinics’ School-Based Intervention Teams (SBIT) reach students and school administrators in more than 400 campuses across California. A recent Outlook Newspapers article talks about the impactful services SBIT offers. With the staggering statistic of 40% of high school students having a mental health challenge, SBIT is helping to address and decrease chronic absenteeism, social isolation and providing alternatives to suspension.
“Among all of their other duties, teachers do not have the time to study the extent of mental health and behavior interventions that we do, so we remove that task by becoming those eyes and ears to give them guidance and help consult,” said Lacey Castellese, executive director, school-based intervention teams. “Our goal is for our teams to become a part of the school’s fabric.”
