Support Services

Support Services offer various programs to address social determinants of health, including housing and employment coaching and placement, among other critically needed services.

Recently, the Asian Pacific Family Center’s (APFC) clinical team received heartfelt recognition from the Rosemead School District and Board of Trustees for their role in providing crucial mental health support during a challenging and emotional time for their community.

Pacific Clinics has been involved with the Rosemead School District for over six years, primarily through our service on the Student Attendance Review Board. Over the years, we have built a trusting relationship with the district, and when the need for mental health support arose, they turned to us for assistance.

In late December, the director of student services reached out to the team during the holiday break with an urgent request for help. The school district was grappling with the sudden death of their principal, a leader who had a deep impact on the school’s culture and staff morale. They needed guidance and support to manage the emotional and psychological aftermath of the loss. Without hesitation, our team sprang into action, working tirelessly over the holiday period to ensure the community received the support it needed.

Following the memorial service, our team provided a staff training session focused on grief, mental health and the importance of seeking support. The team also created a “calm down room” for staff members. Our team’s work continued beyond the memorial, including checking in with teachers, offering resources for students and providing emotional support as the community slowly began to heal.

The superintendent of Rosemead School District expressed deep gratitude for the sensitivity and expertise Pacific Clinics brought to the situation, noting that the support provided was essential in helping staff and students process their grief in a healthy way.

“We are honored to have been able to serve as a vital support system for the district during this difficult time,” said Pacific Clinics Program Director Vicky Kwan. “The trust they placed in us reflects the commitment and care our team consistently provides to our community.”

This acknowledgment highlights the essential role that mental health professionals play within educational institutions and underscores the importance of fostering a supportive environment.
