Publishers Weekly recently wrote an article highlighting the book industry’s sustained action in helping communities rebuild following the Los Angeles Fire.
In one such instance, two bilingual children’s indie publishers — Lacey Benard, co-founder of Bitty Bao and Patty Rodriguez, co-founder of Lil’ Libros — came together to organize a donation drive for Pacific Clinics’ Head Start program, which lost one of its main sites and two home childcare centers in the fires.
“Bitty Bao and Lil’ Libros will be doing as much as we can,” Benard said. “We know it is going to be a long road for East and West Side families, and they’ll need our support for many years to come.”
